This past weekend we finally got to meet our new nephew Clayton Christopher Herring and niece Emme Grace Englund

We went to Cincinnati for the weekend just to visit with family and get our pictures taken by Brenda.

Thursday I was able to go see Sarah Palin speak at Elon University. Thanks Josh for getting me a ticket. :) I went with Josh, Charity, Joanna, Aaron, & Bro. & Sis. Wetherald (Kendall had to work & Gretchen had school).

Topsail Island

A couple of weeks ago we joined Chris, Nancy, and the kids for a few days on their vacation at Topsail Island, NC. We had a blast with them and made lots of memories. This is the house Chris rented which was only a short walk from the beach. This is the view from the back of the house.

I love watching and listening to the waves. I could adapt to being a "beach bum" very quickly.

I had to include this picture. One of the many times the waves got the best of Chris and dumped him into the sand. :)Getting ready to eat a yummy dinner prepared by Nancy.

Summer trip to Missouri

Just a few photos from our trip to Missouri (Kendall's home state) a couple of weeks ago. We had a really fun time going to the Missouri State Fair, fishing, and just being with family. We're looking forward to Christmas when we will head out there again. We also finally got to meet for the first time this little guy - our nephew Karson. He is such a happy baby. Smiles for everyone. Congratulations to Josh and Charity on their engagement! This post is long overdue but we are so happy that Charity is going to be part of the family soon. Out at Red Lobster with them, one of our favorite restaurants. I can just about taste those cheddar biscuits. Yum!

We were glad to have Craig, Tonya, Chris, Nancy, and the kids come down to celebrate Josh's graduation in May. These are pictures from the cookout at Oak Hollow Lake.

Congratulations to Brenda my sister-in-lawon earning her Master's degree from Liberty University! Jeff, Camen, and Kendall's parents came in Friday evening. On Saturday morning we all drove from NC to Virginia for the graduation. We met up with Dana, Phil, and Aaron at the stadium.

Chuck Norris gave the commencement address.

Afterwards we headed to Cracker Barrel for a delicious meal.

I guess it is time for a little update. We have just been working and enjoying spring. I love this season!This is something new we tried Monday evening. Lamb (from Costco - love that store) that we grilled. I was surprised by how tender it was. Very yummy! I was going through some stuff last week and I had to laugh when I pulled this out. This was done at one of the booths at GBS Homecoming 2002.

We had a bridal shower at work a couple weeks ago for a nurse I work with. Congrats to Kim- she is getting married in a few days.

Trip to Gatlinburg

This past week we went back to the place where we had our honeymoon 4 years ago. Love this view of the mountains as you get closer to Gatlinburg.

This is the cabin where we stayed. On the bottom floor was an indoor pool complete with a little waterfall.

One of the places we went to in Gatlinburg was the Hollywood Wax Museum. We had fun "posing" with the celebrities. :)

We finally got a small taste of winter today. It snowed a little and then the sleet came. Kendall had to work in it, but I had the day off. :) It is days like this that I appreciate the convienence of heat.

Christmas with family

This year we hosted Christmas with my side of the family at our house in North Carolina. Craig, Tonya, Chris, Nancy, and the kids came from Cincinnati to spend it with us. It went by way too fast, but we had lots of fun. Two! Two! Three! Three! Anyone who has ever played Pit knows what a fast paced, spoon-grabbing blast it is with family. :)

We are enjoying the beautiful weather we are having here in NC. I think we may have even hit 80 today. Kendall finished raking all of our leaves (thanks to the trees that surround our property). I helped for maybe 5 minutes. :) This is one week I'm glad I'm working nights so I can be outside during the day.

My friend Shana (with her mother) at her baby shower last Thursday. She is expecting a baby boy sometime around Christmas.

Last night we enjoyed hearing Casting Crowns in concert in Greensboro. We went with Josh, Charity, Joanna and some friends from church. I have never heard much of their music but I am now a huge fan and have added their CD to my Christmas list. :)

We were married four years ago on October 25, 2003, at Faith Community Chapel in North Carolina. Today, I spent our anniversary sleeping, due to working a 12-hour shift on Wed. night and Kendall is currently working the evening shift. Life as a police officer's wife... :) Don't worry though, we are going to be able to spend some time together this weekend. We are leaving as soon as Kendall gets off work to make our flight to Kansas City for Dana's wedding.

Football Friday & pics from Cincinnati

Freezing at a local high school football game. It was one of the first cold nights we have had so far and when it drops from the 90's to the 50's you can sure feel it. :) Kendall was working security there and I went with the Lee's. We had a lot of fun laughing at the rabid fans that were there. Last weekend we made a quick trip to Cincinnati and got to see some of mine and Kendall's family.

I'm back to the bloging world. After a month without internet access, I am very thankful to be connected again. We had an issue with our internet provider Clearwire, but we now have Roadrunner and it's working great. We are moved in & have some boxes left to empty but most of it is done. Thank goodness! :)
I know some of you wanted to see more pictures of our house. These are a few I managed to take before all the boxes and furniture came in.

We are currently knee deep in boxes. =) We are in the process of packing to move to our new house next week. We are so excited to be owning our 1st home. These last few weeks have been busy trying to get everything lined up, but we'll be in there by next week.

July 4th week

Hope everyone had a great July 4th. We were able to go to Missouri last week to spend the holiday with family on Kendall's side. On Monday, the 2nd though I was in Johnson City, TN taking the boards for my RN license. I went with two of my friends from school and I'm happy to say that we all three passed. YAY! Early Wednesday morning, Kendall and I flew out from Raleigh to Kansas City and arrived back on Sunday. It was back to work for Kendall on Sunday night and I started my new job on Monday. It was great to be with family last week and we had plenty of things to celebrate. My sister-in-law Dana became engaged on July 3rd to Philip Vernon. They are planning an October 27th wedding. My niece, Khara, turned 7 on the 6th. Here is a pic of her with the cake Jana made. BTW Jana- you do not need cake decorating classes- you could give me lessons though =) We also got in fishing and yes, yours truly did try fishing for the 2nd time in her life. I'll post pics of that later.

Chris informed me that I needed to update my blog. So here is a brief update on our lives. I'm still studying for boards and Kendall is staying busy with his jobs and softball games. We have been enjoying using our grill this summer. Wednesday night we tried grilling chicken kabobs for the first time and I think we found our new favorite food. I would love for any of you out there to share your favorite grilling recipes. Here are the before and after photos. =)

Saturday evening was spent with our good friends Jordan and Justin. We went to a little Japanese sushi restaurant and then played putt-putt. We also went to a small carnival were Jordan and I had to get our picture with Spiderman. =)

This week has been uneventful. Normal work week for Kendall and I am just studying for boards. So, I decided to post some pictures from graduation weekend. These are from the Pinning Ceremony that was held the Friday morning before graduation.

We really appreciated the Wetheralds coming. They are faithful to attend events and we love having them as our pastor family. We really like Charity too. =) Right after pinning we had to go straight to rehearsal for graduation. After waiting in the lineup for 2 hours we were thrilled to be able to sit down for another 2 hours. Yes, a 4 hour rehearsal. =)

Last night Kendall's softball league games started. We won 13-12! Kendall caught the three outs in the other team's next to last inning keeping them from scoring.

Yesterday, I turned 24. :( It's funny how the older you get, the more your b-day just feels like another day. It was fun though in spite of being in school from 9-5 for board reviews. My friend, Sarah, surprised me and Erica (another classmate who's b-day is the same as mine) with cupcakes at school. Then, Kendall and I went bowling with Sarah and her husband, Michael (who's b-day is also the 10th). It was neat having 2 people to share a birthday with.

Graduation Weekend

Here are some pics from graduation on Saturday, May 5th. This first picture is with my two friends from school. Left is Traci and right is Jordan. Right before graduation in the parking lot, Traci's boyfriend proposed to her in front of her family and friends. I don't know what she was most excited about graduating or becoming engaged. :) Jordan was commissioned at commencement as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army Nurse Corps. She was involved in a serious car accident the night before and had spent the night in the hospital. She and her husband had picked up her sister at the airport and were sitting at a stoplight when a semi (to avoid hitting a car that had ran a redlight) swerved and hit them headon. It's a miracle they were able to walk away with just bumps and bruises. With my three brothers Josh, Craig, and Chris. Kendall & I Kendall's family- mom, Dana, Brenda, Aaron, Vicki & Camen Craig, Tonya, Chris, Michael, & Josh. We had a great time with our family here. Wish we could get together more often.

Beach Getaway

Kendall & I decided to take a quick vacation this past weekend to Myrtle Beach. We went to the Carolina Opry and did some shopping at the outlet stores. It was great just to get away for a few days and relax.

Giant Crab seafood buffet. It was a very interesting place to eat at with every kind of seafood imaginable. Kendall and I both agreed that we have had our fill of crab legs. :)

Health Fair

For a project this semester our Community Health nursing class had to organize a health fair. We contacted vendors such as mental health, breast clinic, fire department, police department, and diabetes clinic to name a few. It was held today with a pretty good turnout. We even made the 5:00 news on WXII Channel 12 news. That was exciting. Here are some of the highlights.

New Clinicals

Today I started my clinicals in Community Health nursing class. These are a little different than past clinicals in that we're making home visits to see our clients ( as we now refer to them). I was a little nervous at first about going into an unknown home, but it turned out fine and I think I'm going to really enjoy this rotation. Really bad day

After a frustrating day at school, I walk out to my vehicle to discover this on my windshield. Parking is very limited anytime after 8:00am, and I had a meeting in the afternoon. I parked alongside a curb. They got me for "obstructing the sidewalk" with a fine of $40. The funny thing is there were 3 cars on the other side of the street parked the same way, but no tickets on their windshield.
